CAN to host first Juneteenth event

Fairfield, California (Monday, May 23, 2022)— The Fairfield Clergy Action Network
(CAN) is proud to present the first annual Juneteenth Celebration Saturday, June 18, 2022, from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. at 675 Texas Street (the Solano County Lawn). The festival will be emceed by councilmember Pam Bertani.
June 19th, 1865, is considered the date when the last enslaved people in America were freed in Texas. Although the rumors of freedom were widespread, actual emancipation did not happen in Texas until June 19th, two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth is now a day to celebrate freedom all over the United States.
This year’s theme “A Celebration of Freedom” will feature live music, food, and games. If you have questions about being a vendor or the event, contact Pam Bertani at pbertani@fairfield.ca.gov, or call (707) 628-6974.
